Happy Sunday besties. I hope you had an amazing holiday week!

I'm keeping today's lesson super short and sweet because I know you're easing back into the week. But I promise this one tiny habit will change how you use AI forever.

Can you believe tomorrow is already December!? Let’s get into it!

The 3-Second Prompt Check

Before you hit send on ANY AI prompt, pause for 3 seconds and ask yourself these three questions around Goal, Context, and Constraints:

1. Is my GOAL clear? What do I actually want? Be specific.
🐛 "Help me with my resume"
🦋 "Review my resume and suggest 3 improvements to better highlight my AI skills for product management roles"

2. Is my CONTEXT included? What does AI need to know that I'm assuming it knows?
🐛 "Write a follow-up email"
🦋 "Write a follow-up email to the hiring manager I met at the conference last week. I want to express interest in the role without being pushy. Keep it to 3 sentences max."

3. Did I set CONSTRAINTS? Format, length, tone, and what NOT to do.
🐛 "Give me social media ideas"
🦋 "Give me 5 LinkedIn post ideas for professional women learning AI. Each should be 2-3 sentences max. Conversational tone. Do NOT use corporate language or buzzwords."

And my favorite hack, which I dare say … feels illegal: have ChatGPT or Claude automatically check your prompts for you by training it to do just that!

Copy and paste this into your AI tool of choice:

From now on, whenever I ask "Does this fit my 3 second rule?", analyze my prompt to see if it meets my "3-Second Rule":

1. Is the GOAL clear and specific?
2. Is the CONTEXT included (what you need to know)?
3. Are CONSTRAINTS set (format, length, tone, what NOT to do)?

If my prompt is missing any of these, ask me clarifying questions BEFORE you respond. Say "Let me make sure I understand - can you clarify [missing element]?"

Only proceed with your response once all three elements are present.

Confirm you understand by saying "3-Second Rule activated 🦋"

Pro tip: Add this to a ChatGPT Project or Claude Project so it applies to all your conversations in that workspace!

What’s Hot on the Internet:

  • ChatGPT Group Chats now lets you add ChatGPT to your group texts. Why? An expert on speed dial to settle debates or answer questions. The reality? Early testers report it feels invasive, ChatGPT's responses are overwhelming, and there's no way to talk to just the humans. Do people actually want an AI in their group conversations…? Me thinks not. (link)

  • Is having no followers cool again? The New Yorker says yes. Huge follower counts increasingly mean bots and dead profiles rather than real people. Small, authentic followings are becoming the new status symbol. Turns out AI can’t fake genuine human connection. Shocker.(link)

  • Little Calendars is a perfect example of a vibe-coded website. It lets you create free personalized advent calendars with custom content for each day in December! Such a fun idea to do with long distance friends this holiday season. (Follow @meshtimes on IG for more AI content like this!) (link)

  • Claude Opus 4.5 is Anthropic's smartest model yet, and it's really good at making documents, spreadsheets, and presentations look polished without endless revisions. Who’s tried it yet? (link)
